Race within the rules
This page explains what governing bodies, regulators, standards bodies and researchers publish. It is not a substitute for your class's rule book, a track's safety rules, the race director or the makers' instructions.
How lists work
Each body publishes its own lists, and each list decides only at that body's events. A part on EFRA's list is not thereby accepted at a ROAR-sanctioned race, and the reverse. IFMAR, as the world body, builds some of its World Championship lists from homologations made by its four blocs (EFRA, ROAR, FEMCA and FAMAR). This site does not say any part is approved, legal or compliant: the current list of the body running the event is the record, and it should be checked on that body's own site.
EFRA
| List | What EFRA's 2026 Handbook says about it |
|---|---|
| Motor homologation lists | Only listed motors may be used at European Championship and Grand Prix electric events, since 2016 (Appendix 3, A 2; Appendix 4, 5). Separate lists for Modified and for 10.5T, 13.5T, 17.5T and 21.5T Spec motors, plus listed optional rotors (Appendix 4, 5.3 and 5.7). New motors are not added within four weeks of a European Championship (5.5) |
| Battery homologation lists | Published each year, with official archive lists; EFRA says only batteries shown on the official EFRA website are legal at EFRA-sanctioned events (Appendix 4, 2). From 2026 there are two submission deadlines, 1 December and 1 April; approved 4S and 2S packs become legal on the following 1 April and 1S packs on the following 1 March; a listed battery must be on sale in EFRA countries at least four weeks before a European Championship (3.2 to 3.4). Each submission needs UN 38.3 test certification (3.3(a)) |
| 1S Stick Lithium Battery Homologation List | The only batteries allowed in GT12 (Appendix 3, C 5) |
| Approved Blinky ESC list | The only speed controllers allowed where a zero-timing ESC is required (Appendix 3, B 6 and C 4.1) |
| Bodyshell homologation | Touring car, FWD and 1/12 LMP shells are approved by the EFRA Bodyshell Homologation Officer; GT12 shells and chassis are listed in Appendices 1 and 2 of the GT12 rules (Appendix 3, B 2, 6.1.1, 7.1.1, 9; C 1.21, 6.1.1) |
| 1/12 tyre additives | A list of legal additives published by the section chairman at least a month before each event (Appendix 3, B 5) |
| Muffler registration and INS boxes | EFRA-registered mufflers and approved inlet silencer boxes for IC classes, with two-year registration periods (Appendix 8). A yearly list titled "Mufflerlist 2026 V1" was seen in search, dated 11 March 2026 by a search summary; it was not read |
IFMAR
- Batteries: IFMAR produces an Approved Product List of batteries for each year's World Championships, distributed with the race package (Batteries and Motors, March 2023, 3.1). Packs must be submitted about eight months before the opening ceremony, with three samples, the maker's dimensions and weights, charging parameters, case details and UN 38.3 certification, and the list is published two months before the first event (section 1). For the 1/8 e-buggy, only homologated batteries on the blocs' approved lists shown on the IFMAR website are accepted (e-buggy book, April 2023, 2.3).
- Motors: the approved list of Modified and Spec motors and optional rotors is posted on the IFMAR website three months before the event, and a motor must be commercially available four months before; previously approved motors stay listed for their lifespan (March 2023, 4 and 4.2). Search results showed IFMAR files titled "2024 IFMAR 17.5T Spec. Motor Homologation List v1 Final" and "2024 IFMAR Modified Motor Homologation List v1 Final", both dated 19 July 2024 in their titles; the lists were not read.
- Mufflers and inlet silencers: the IFMAR Approved Muffler List and Inlet Noise Silencer Box List are built from homologations by ROAR, EFRA, FEMCA or FAMAR made at least four months before the event, and published two months before (1/8 IC track 2023, 5.7; 1/8 IC off-road 2024, 2.3).
- IC track bodies: drawn from a combined list of the blocs' approvals (1/8 IC track 2023, 5.12).
ROAR
ROAR's current rule book and its lists were not read; what follows is from ROAR's dated announcements.
- Who is responsible: under rule 8.14.4.1 (update of 18 October 2024) it is the driver's responsibility to know whether their motor, battery, ESC and body are on the most recent ROAR Approved List. Renewing motor, battery and body approvals is the maker's responsibility (rules 11.3.2.1, 11.2.1.14 and 9.1.2).
- Off-road bodies: from 2026 every off-road body used at a ROAR-sanctioned event must individually appear on the ROAR Approved List, whenever it was first sold, with the maker's part number moulded in; approvals last four years while the maker remains a ROAR Industry Affiliate (announcement of 15 January 2025).
- Motors: motors with epoxy-coated stators stay on the list until 31 December 2026; new-specification motors are legal from 1 September 2025; motors approved before 1 September 2025 have a term ending 31 August 2029 (rules 11.3.1.4 and 11.3.7.10).
The BRCA
The BRCA's 10th Electric Circuit section page lists a "BRCA Touring Car Approved Body List V11-07.2026" (July 2026) and a "BRCA FWD Body List May_2026"; only the titles were seen. The BRCA's Electric Recognition Board motor, ESC and battery lists for 2026 were not found, so no BRCA list is described here. See the BRCA and national bodies.
Gaps
- The contents of every list above were deliberately not reproduced; several were seen only by title.
- No list from FEMCA or Australia's AARCMCC was found, and FAMAR's own rules were not looked for beyond IFMAR's references to it as a homologating bloc.
- EFRA's IC appendices, which may hold further IC lists, were not read.
